Mary, a lively San Francisco Bay Area native, and Colin, a soft-spoken Midwest gentleman, met while attending West Point, the United States Military Academy in upstate New York. Despite their young age, they took their love and faith very seriously. After graduating this past Spring, they returned to Mary’s hometown in Orinda to get married in a meaningful Catholic wedding ceremony at Santa Maria Church. At the conclusion of the ceremony, some of their West Point classmates performed the arch of sabers ceremony outside the church. It was a wonderful sight to see.
Mary is one of six children and the first to get married in her family. Her family’s joy seeing Mary and Colin get married was readily seen on their faces throughout the day. Likewise, Colin is from a big close-knit community and there was a large group of family-friends that made the journey out West to celebrate with the couple.
After the ceremony, everyone headed over to the private Claremont Country Club in the Oakland Hills. The historic club is tucked back amongst old oak trees and feels like it could be from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby. The band got everyone out on the dance floor and the energy never let down.
Congratulations to Mary and Colin! Wishing you safe travels wherever your duties call.
