Pixar’s short film “BAO” received the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.  Directed by Domee Shi, who grew up in Toronto, Canada, the film was inspired by Domee’s relationship with her mother, who works at the University of Toronto.  The university published an article about Shi’s Oscar win.

Ed Catmull is co-founder of Pixar Animation Studios and president of Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios.  He wrote “Creativity, Inc.” with Amy Wallace and this book shares Ed’s insights into what it takes to build a creative organization.  I captured images from behind the scenes that are featured in the book.

So excited for Miranda and Rodney’s wedding to be featured in Brides Magazine!  Just as their families had been included in their proposal, it was important that they took center stage at Miranda and Rodney’s wedding at the Headlands Center for the Arts in Sausalito, California. “Each guest was invited because they loved and supported us as individuals and as a couple, and we wanted to honor the fact that they made up the community that would sustain our marriage,” Miranda explains.

Megan and Will’s San Francisco wedding is featured on Borrowed & Blue.  Terra Gallery made for the perfect location for Megan  and Will’s nuptials.  Its urban vibe complemented their day so flawlessly.  It was a delight capturing Megan and Will, who showed so much emotion and joy.

Simone and Mark’s Grimm’s fairytales inspired wedding at the Conservatory of Flowers in San Francisco is featured on The Modern Jewish Wedding.  Simone was diagnosed with cancer when she was 14 years old and capturing her, Mark and their family and friends was an emotional and memorable experience.

It was great fun capturing Pixar filmmakers Lee Unkrich, Pete Docter, Dan Scanlon, Andrew Stanton, Mark Andrews and Bob Peterson for French magazine, “Premiere” for the feature article about the animation studio.

Kelly Macdonald, the voice of Merida in “Brave” and star of HBO television series “Boardwalk Empire,” is featured in The New York Times.  Kelly was wonderful to photograph and a portrait taken in Edinburgh, Scotland is included in the article.

FANTASTIC NEWS: Deborah Coleman Photography has been accepted into Best of Wedding Photography (BOWP), the premier invitation-only association for the world’s top wedding photographers. BOWP employs a unique system of peer-review to ensure that membership standards remain uncommonly high. BOWP looks for photographers who are leaders in the field – both in terms of the quality and style of imagery they produce and their level of success and recognition by brides, fellow photographers, and others in the wedding industry. A few times each year, the editorial staff submits a list of outstanding photographers to the BOWP Review Board, who then vote separately on whom to invite. Every invitation BOWP issue represents a consensus among peers that a given photographer ranks among the best in the world. I am so honored to be accepted into this talented group of photographers!

An image I took of “Toy Story 3” Director Lee Unkrich and Producer Darla Anderson arriving back at Pixar Animation Studios after receiving the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature was published over two pages in the Glimpse section.

The Hollywood Reporter has named Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios John Lasseter as “Innovator of the Year.” The magazine published a nice layout, including images I took of John during the “Cars” film production.

The feature article in Wired Magazine focuses on “Toy Story 3” and includes exclusive behind the scenes images. This issue of Wired is the first magazine to be featured on the iPad.

This Italian publication’s feature spread on the making of “Toy Story 3” includes concept art for developing the characters and environments and behind the scenes images.  All of the visuals showcase the great level of detail that goes into making an animated feature film.

I am excited to announce that I have been accepted as a certified wedding vendor by Here Comes The Guide! Here Comes The Guide is a prestigious wedding resource that represents only the best wedding vendors in California. In order to become a certified member, you have to go through a rigorous screening process, which includes a portfolio review, HCTG interviewing 30-40 vendor references about your business and at least ten wedding couples who have hired you. If these people don’t absolutely rave about you, sorry but you don’t get in. All the work HCTG accomplishes pays off: couples who use HCTG to find vendors know that the screening process eliminates less than stellar and newbie businesses. Unlike most wedding resources, Here Comes The Guide vendor listings are written by their staff, including comments made by your references during the interview process. I am so humbled and thrilled to see my listing on Here Comes The Guide. Thanks to Denise, Jennifer and Sandra for all your help.
